1. Pre-Operation Preparation & Inspection
Before starting the mixer, a comprehensive check must be completed to eliminate potential safety hazards and equipment malfunctions.
Equipment Structure Check
Inspect the tightness of key components: Ensure bolts connecting the mixing drum, ribbon agitator, and transmission system (such as motor, reducer, and coupling) are not loose or missing.
Check the agitator status: Confirm the double helix ribbons are not deformed, cracked, or worn. Ensure there is no foreign matter (e.g., metal scraps, tools) stuck between the ribbons and the drum inner wall to avoid friction or jamming during operation.
Verify safety guards: Ensure protective covers for the motor, reducer, and rotating parts are intact and properly installed to prevent accidental contact with moving components.
Electrical & Lubrication Check
Electrical system: Check if the power cord, plug, and control panel buttons are in good condition (no damage, short circuit, or water leakage). Test the emergency stop button to ensure it can cut off power immediately.
Lubrication: Confirm the oil level in the reducer is within the specified range (usually marked by an oil sight glass) and that the oil is clean (no turbidity or impurities). Add or replace lubricating oil (as per the equipment manual) if necessary. Lubricate bearings and other moving parts with grease if required.
Material & Worksite Preparation
Material compatibility: Ensure the materials to be mixed are compatible with the mixer's drum material (e.g., stainless steel drums are suitable for food, pharmaceutical, or corrosive materials; carbon steel drums for non-corrosive industrial materials). Avoid mixing materials that may react chemically (e.g., acidic and alkaline substances) in the drum.
Material size & humidity: Do not add materials with large (hard lumps larger than 10% of the ribbon gap) or excessively wet materials (which may clump and stick to the ribbons, affecting mixing uniformity). Crush or dry such materials in advance.
Worksite safety: Keep the area around the mixer clean and unobstructed. Ensure there is sufficient space for material loading/unloading and emergency evacuation.

2. In-Operation Safety & Operational Rules
During mixer operation, strictly follow operational procedures to avoid equipment damage and personal injury.
Startup Sequence & Load Control
Start the mixer before loading materials (no-load startup). After confirming the agitator runs smoothly (no abnormal noise or vibration), add materials gradually.
Do not overload: The maximum material loading volume should not exceed 70-80% of the drum's effective volume (overloading will increase motor load, cause uneven mixing, and may damage the transmission system). Refer to the equipment manual for the exact loading capacity.
Monitoring & Emergency Handling
Real-time monitoring: Pay attention to the mixer's running status, including motor temperature (should not exceed 70°C), reducer noise (no abnormal grinding or knocking sounds), and mixing uniformity (sample and check periodically if necessary).
Prohibit dangerous operations:
Do not open the drum cover or reach into the drum with hands/tools while the agitator is running.
Do not stop the mixer suddenly during normal operation (except for emergencies) to avoid material caking or agitator deformation.
Emergency response: If abnormal conditions occur (e.g., motor overheating, loud noise, material leakage), press the emergency stop button immediately, cut off power, and troubleshoot after the agitator completely stops.
Mixing Time Control
Do not extend the mixing time unnecessarily: Excessive mixing may cause material overheating (for heat-sensitive materials) or segregation (for materials with large density differences). Follow the recommended mixing time in the equipment manual or based on material test results.
3. Post-Operation Maintenance & Cleaning
After mixing is completed, proper maintenance and cleaning are essential to extend the mixer's service life and ensure product quality for subsequent use.
Shutdown & Unloading
Stop the agitator after completely unloading materials (no-load shutdown). Do not shut down the mixer with materials remaining in the drum (which may cause the agitator to jam when restarting).
Use appropriate unloading methods: For powdery materials, ensure the discharge valve is fully open and free of blockages. For sticky materials, use a soft tool (e.g., a plastic scraper) to clean the drum inner wall after shutdown (do not use hard metal tools to avoid scratching the drum).
Cleaning Requirements
Clean the drum and agitator immediately after use, especially for food, pharmaceutical, or multi-variety material applications. Use water, neutral detergent, or solvents (as per material properties) to remove residual materials. Avoid using corrosive cleaning agents (e.g., strong acids/alkalis) that may damage the drum surface.
Dry the drum thoroughly after cleaning (use compressed air or a clean cloth) to prevent rust (for carbon steel drums) or bacterial growth (for food/pharmaceutical use).
Routine Maintenance
Daily maintenance: Wipe the equipment surface to remove dust and material residues. Check the tightness of bolts and the condition of electrical wires.
Regular maintenance (weekly/monthly, as per manual):
Replace the reducer oil every 3-6 months (or after 1000 hours of operation).
Inspect bearing wear: If there is excessive clearance or abnormal noise, replace the bearings.
Check the integrity of the discharge valve seal (replace the gasket if there is leakage).
